When talking about protecting your family and your home, there are many different ways you can go about it. Personally, I decided that the best way to keep everything I care about safe was by using a wireless home security system, complete with cameras.
Doing my research, I know that people are more afraid of getting caught if there are cameras present, so I knew that that would be a better solution than an average home alarm or something similar.
As for the best wireless home security system, I wanted to get something that would be easy to install, easy to setup, and a snap to use. I’m not exactly technically proficient, but I managed to find many different systems that worked within my budget and my expertise (which was close to none).
For your convenience, I’ve compiled a list of the best wireless home security systems that I found in my research so that you can benefit from my learning. It’s your home and your family, shouldn’t you keep them safe?
Recommended Wireless Home Security System
1. Annke 4CH 960P HD Wireless IP/ Network Security Camera System
Our first stop is with the Annke 4CH Camera System. When looking at wireless security systems, the most common features that you see is ease of installation and high levels of video clarity.
The biggest reason to get a wireless camera system is that you don’t have to worry about installing or running wires through your house.
Instead, you simply put the cameras where they need to go and sync them to the network. That being said, you do still need to hook everything up to a power source (since the cameras don’t have batteries) and you will still need to connect your router to a hard drive and a power supply if you plan on seeing any playback.
Nonetheless, the installation process for the Annke system is a breeze, relatively speaking. What I like most about it is the stunning HD clarity of a 980P camera and the fact that the system comes with its own router.
With some wireless cameras, you need to piggyback on your current wifi, which can drain your bandwidth for any other devices that you use.
Finally, the best part of this system is that you can sync it up to your phone and monitor the cameras remotely, as well as reposition and move them around. Also, the system will notify you if the motion sensors have been tripped, meaning that you can keep an eye on things even when you’re not there.
- Four cameras included
- 980P HD clarity
- Night vision included
- Intuitive interface
- Syncs with your smartphone
- Easy to install
- Cameras have wireless transmitters
- Range of up to 1000 feet
- Remote activation and movement
- Connects to any TV or monitor
- Smart Link connection means easy setup
- Email alerts when motion activated
- Weatherproof cameras
2. Smonet 4CH 960P(1280X960) HD Wireless Video Security System
Next, we have the Smonet 4CH Security System. As you will see, many of the wireless home security systems I found have a lot of the same features.
What it will really come down to in the end is which brand you trust, as well as which ones have all the equipment you need.
For example, this system (like the Annke) has a router and four cameras but doesn’t have a hard drive for playback. That means you’ll need to get one so you can record video if you want to keep it. Otherwise, you can monitor a live feed, but you won’t be able to go back at all.
What I like about the Smonet System is that it has HD clarity (960P) and the installation process is as smooth as silk. While you still need to connect the cameras to a power source, once everything is set up the system will do the rest.
You don’t need to worry about connecting each camera to the network one by one, as they will do so automatically. Also, using a proprietary wifi means you don’t have to drain your own bandwidth.
The other thing I like about the Smonet System is that the cameras themselves are durable. They are waterproof and weatherproof so that you can keep them up all year round. As long as the antennas don’t get damaged, they will last a while.
- Four cameras included
- Wireless connection on each camera
- 960P HD video
- Night vision included
- Motion activated
- Push notifications when motion sensors are tripped
- System connects automatically
- Syncs up to your smartphone
- Connects to any TV or monitor
- Install in minutes
- Waterproof and weatherproof
3. Zmodo Smart Wireless Security Cameras
Next, we have a set of Zmodo Smart Wireless Security Cameras. What you have to keep in mind is that this set is just the cameras themselves, meaning that you will need to secure a router and hard drive.
You can connect the cameras to your current wifi network, but that will drain your bandwidth, so I don’t recommend that.
However, finding a router and hard drive shouldn’t be too hard these days, so you can set up a home security system relatively quickly, even though you need to secure additional parts.
What I do like about these cameras though is that you can connect a bunch of them to one network. With most security systems, you are only allowed to have up to four cameras online at any given time, but with Zmodo they make it easy to scale up.
That means if you need additional cameras on your property, you can get multiple sets and connect them to the same network without having to get a whole new system installed.
Otherwise, Zmodo cameras have all the standard features, such as HD clarity, night vision, and smartphone hookup. The night vision range on these cameras is high-quality, too, meaning that you can see further in the dark than with other models.
- Four cameras included
- Wireless connectivity
- Automatic connection to the network
- 720P HD resolution
- Night vision included
- Night range of 80 feet
- Syncs to your smartphone
- Notifies you when activated
- Easily add more cameras to the network
- Weatherproof
4. XmartO 4 Channel 960p HD Wireless Security Camera System
Getting back into full security systems, we now have the XmartO 4 Channel System. What I like about this is that everything comes included so that you can get set up right away.
You don’t need to get a router or a hard drive with XmartO; you can just plug and play.
Assuming that you want feedback (trust me, you do), then you’ll be happy to know that this system comes with a one terabyte hard drive which can store hundreds of hours of footage before running out of space.
Overall, I really like this system over others because all parts are already synced up, so you don’t have to spend time connecting everything. You just activate the cameras, and they log into the network automatically. The only thing you have to do is download the smartphone app so you can view the feed remotely from your phone.
Cameras are also weatherproof and have an extensive range of 1000 feet, meaning that you can set them up anywhere inside or outside your house without losing connectivity.
- Four cameras included
- Network router included with hard drive
- One terabyte of data storage
- Uses proprietary wifi connection
- Up to 1000 foot range
- Cameras connect to network automatically
- 960P HD resolution
- Night vision included
- Syncs to smartphone
- Notifies you when activated
- Weatherproof
- Plug and play installation
5. ZOSI 1280 720P HD Wireless 1MP Outdoor Security Network Camera
Finally, we have the ZOSI Wireless Security Network. This is another plug and play system, meaning that all you have to do is install the cameras, plug them into a power source, and you’re ready to go.
You will need to hook up a hard drive to the network if you want playback, but out of the box, you can easily monitor a live feed, right from your smartphone.
The ZOSI System comes with all standard features, including HD resolution cameras (720P), night vision, and smartphone sync. What I like about the cameras themselves is that they have an aluminum housing, which means that they will last a lot longer than most other models that only use plastic.
- Four cameras included
- Router included (no hard drive)
- Uses proprietary wifi
- Range of up to 1000 feet
- Cameras automatically connect to network
- Syncs with your phone
- 720P HD resolution
- Night vision included
- Night range of up to 100 feet
- Durable aluminum housing
- Weatherproof and waterproof
- Email alerts when motion activated
Final Verdict
When trying to figure out which system is best, it really depends on how easy you want the installation process to be, as well as if you want to have playback ability. To that end, my top recommendation would be the XmartO system because it comes with a hard disk and a router so that you can just install the cameras, plug everything in, and you’re ready to go.
Otherwise, if you already have a hard drive or don’t care about playback, I would then recommend the Smonet or Annke systems, because they have sufficient wifi range and HD clarity. Overall, each wireless home security system featured is top rated, so you are sure to be satisfied with your purchase.
